Keith Potger Releases Solo CD

Keith has released his first ever solo album, 'Secrets of the heart'.

"In August 2003 I booked the recording studio for a few weeks to put down some basic versions of songs I had written during the past decade. I guess there must have been some extra inspiration in that studio because before I knew it the rough tracks had become polished tracks. The original idea of putting down thirteen songs was expanded to nineteen and I felt like I was singing better than ever."

For more details & how to order, see Bruce & Keith's Solo page

On 3rd December 2005, while on a visit to the UK, Keith gave a one-off concert at Dinton Village Hall, Dinton, near Salisbury, to help raise funds for small villages in rural areas. Further concerts are planned for 2006.

Seekers Manager John Kovak dies at 50

From the Surfin' Seekers Yahoo group website:

John Kovac - Judith Durham's long time manager, and the Seekers' guiding light through their reunion years from 1993-2004 - died in Melbourne on December 8 at age 50.

Without John's unflinching desire to reunite the original Seekers, we would quite possibly never have seen Athol, Bruce, Judith and Keith back together on stage or on record.

For members of this group and the email group, the Seekers reunions as orchestrated by John have galvanised friendships amongst all of us - some online, others in person - friendships and contacts that would otherwise never have been made.

We remember John for his skilful entrepreneurial work with the Seekers, and the joy this has brought to us all

There is a personal message from Judith about John on her website.

Notices in the Melbourne Herald Sun included this from The Seekers:

KOVAC - John.
Treasured friend and brother
of Athol, Keith and Bruce, and
Judith's soulmate. We are all
bonded in our love and
appreciation of your amazing
gifts. The best manager we
could ever have had for our
reunion years.
We'll never forget you.
Your family
THE SEEKERS

2003/4 Tours

The Seekers celebrated their 40th anniversary as a group with two concert tours of Australia and New Zealand. The group officially disbanded after the 2004 tour, although they did perform another show later that year  - in Hong Kong!

The 2003 tour was originally called the "Never say Never Again" tour. When interviewed by the Herald Sun, The Seekers’ bass player Athol Guy said the tongue-in-cheek name was chosen to play on the group's numerous comebacks, with three tours having been completed since their 1993 announcement they were hitting the road for the last time.

"We learned from previous experiences that you never say never again. Every time we meet people they say, 'Oh, is this another last goodbye tour?' so we're having a bit of fun with it. You just never know what's around the corner.

"A few years ago we never would have thought that we could be together to play again because we're not a permanent band any more and the Seekers don't exist except when we get together and have a bit of fun."

Lead singer Judith Durham says the idea to reform came after Australia Post approached them about honouring their career achievements with a souvenir stamp collection, which was launched on Oct 7th (see feature below).

Keith Potger, who lives in Western Australia, says the group's longevity was founded on friendship. "We're very different people and we all have strong opinions but we're a very democratic group," he said.
